Aims/Description: This Unit will lay the foundation level knowledge, skills and the professional attributes and values required for contemporary midwifery practice. Students will explore the wider aspects of health and illness and issues which impact upon them. This will provide you with the information that you require in order to undertake practice and will allow you to build on the knowledge gained in further theory modules. This module will introduce you to the professional issues which underpin midwifery practice. You will be introduced to the frameworks that will guide your practice as a midwife, including the professional, legal, and ethical codes of practice.

Restrictions on availability: This module is only available to those students who are registered on the Pre-registration Masters in Midwifery programme
