Pre-requisites: MLT221, or MLT261, or A-level French + 1 year of study or stay abroad, or equivalent CEF B2 proficiency in the language.
Aims/Description: This unit aims to enable students to heighten their awareness of cultural and linguistic aspects of the country where they are studying, encouraging their social integration and fostering their independent and/or collaborative study in the foreign language. Students will complete a diary in which they will record and reflect upon their linguistic and cultural integration progress over a period of at least 10 weeks. They will also contribute to a blog intended to share language learning advice and practical tips about living in the region and country with other students currently abroad or preparing for a year abroad. https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/mltc/lfa/courses/french/year_abroad
Restrictions on availability: Normally restricted to students of Chemistry/Maths/Physics/Engineering/Social Science with study in Europe, during their year abroad.
