30 Credits ACADEMIC YEAR



Aims/Description: This module is designed to give students more of the practical and transferable skills they need for a career in biological or medicinal chemistry, and many graduate jobs. Students systematically gather data from scientific literature and other sources, to practice evaluating and presenting complex information. Work is done independently and in groups, with lots of opportunities for students to reflect on their work and get feedback from their teams. In the lab, students develop their practical skills through an independent chemistry research project.

Restrictions on availability: Restricted to students in Department of Chemistry

Teaching Methods: Lectures, Tutorials, Laboratory work, Independent Study, An oral presentation as part of a mini-symposium based on their lab-based project executed as a group in S2. This will last typically 1.5h where all group members are in attendance. Sessions in which posters are presented and debated 2.5h.
