30 Credits AUTUMN

Pre-requisites: Diploma of British Orthoptics, with subsequent clinical experience; Bachelor degree with honours in Orthoptics or other honours degree in eye-care related field, normally 2:1 or higher from a recognised institution

Aims/Description: This module will enhance knowledge of the mechanisms and treatment of Stroke and develop a comprehensive understanding of issues concerning Stroke in relation to the eye-care practitioner's clinical practice and academic theory. It will advance learning and understanding of the multi-disciplinary approach to enable more holistic patient care. Delivery is part-time via Distance learning, and the student will currently be working in a clinical post. 

Restrictions on availability: Students accepted onto OPHT01 or if stand alone module students will be qualified Orthoptists / eye-care practitioners.Observation of at least one clinical session specialising in stroke is recommended.
