10 Credits SPRING

Aims/Description: This module addresses the core skills of listening to and writing harmony and counterpoint accurately and critically. The module will also deal with musical nomenclature and terminology, and stylistic and formal elements of music. These will be taught against the musical context of the eighteenth century, and will serve to prepare students for compositional and analytical tasks in concurrent and future modules. It is linked with MUS133 - Materials of Music and will build on topics introduced in the first module.
