20 Credits AUTUMN

Aims/Description: Assuming no prior knowledge of the language but intended for students with sound experience of second-language acquisition, this unit covers the Beginner 1 and 2 units, providing at an accelerated progression pace a solid foundation in the language and culture in order to cope with a range of predictable, everyday communicative situations encountered when interacting at an elementary level with native speakers during, for instance, a brief visit abroad (CEF level A2). Based on 55 hours of small group (15-20) interactive seminars and tutorials predominantly delivered in the foreign language, the unit also comprises 145 hours of monitored private study. https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/mltc/lfa/courses/Italian/stage_1_accelerated
