Aims/Description: This unit provides the theoretical background to leadership for leaders, providing an overview of prominent leadership theories and incorporates cutting-edge research, including research on mission and strategy; authentic leadership, human capital and positive organisational behaviour. It introduces the 'Leader's Decathlon' concept for the range of leadership tasks covering the foundations of team leadership, team building and performance, and topics of high practical relevance to future leaders, including emergent leadership, diversity, the management of conflict in teams. It incorporates a self-reflective element aimed at developing participants' awareness of their leadership style, and developing their leadership skills.
