This unit is an optional module of the MSc in Clinical Neurology


Aims/Description: Students will have the opportunity to select a sub specialty clinical tutor from within the faculty to spend the period of the apprenticeship with. Students will attend specialist clinics and under supervision will have the opportunity to develop expertise in a subspecialty area of neurology. Teaching will consist of observation of the clinical tutor at work, and supervised history and examination practice in the specialist area with feedback. Students will keep a portfolio which will contain a reflective log of cases, work based assessments and learning points. This will be reviewed on a regular basis at apprenticeship tutorials with the clinical tutor. At these tutorials personalised learning objectives for the subsequent week will be set.
