20 Credits AUTUMN

Pre-requisites: GER235

GER235 and ONE of the TWO: i) FRE201 and FRE202 or ii) GER201 and GER202

Aims/Description: The Year Abroad assessment aims to encourage students to engage productively with opportunities for improving their spoken language skills in Luxembourgish and written language skills in French or German, cultural awareness and personal development during the period of residence abroad. It will provide continuity in written language skills through the preparation and writing of a substantial piece of work in French or German and develop competence and confidence in independent research through the selection and presentation of current affairs subjects. It will provide a framework for explicit reflection on learning and development and promote the identification of skills and experiences that will enhance employability. All students will be required to complete two elements as part of this assessment: an interview in Luxembourgish and a structured report in French or German of the Year Abroad experience.
