Aims/Description: The unit will cover: calculations of concentrations, dilutions and absorbance; enzyme kinetics; protein purification and enzyme activity; pH, pK, exponentials and logs; statistics and the propagation of errors; advanced uses of database programs; scientific writing; analysis of sequences; and analysis of scientific papers. Material will be introduced through lectures and tutorials, and will be accompanied by web pages containing worked examples.
