Aims/Description: The aim of this module is to offer students the opportunity to further increase their skill as translators in the specific language pair under study. It will develop work already undertaken in the Autumn Semester module. The course analyses material from the word to the text level and examines theoretical and practical issues in the translation of authentic Source Language texts. Students will further examine frequently-occurring translation problems and the range of strategies that can be used to solve them, including awareness of the target audience. Students will also be expected to justify their choice of translation strategy.

Restrictions on availability: Normally for students on Masters' programmes in the Faculty of Arts. Normally for native speakers of English with a BA Hons 2.1 equivalent in French
