10 Credits ACADEMIC YEAR



Aims/Description: This unit provides an opportunity for students to put their transferable skills into practise and help them to determine areas for future personal development. Students will organise and participate in their own journal club and seminar series using a range of skills including teamwork, project management, communication, networking, negotiation and critical appraisal with minimal supervision. Students will reflect on and record their experience in their PDP log.

Assessment: Each element is assessment on a pass/fail basis according to the criteria described below. Students must pass all elements with not less than 70% attendance at Journal and Seminar sessions. Journal Paper Precis (500 words) covering: Original Citation; Overall Study Question; The methods used to answer the question; Summary of the major results, observations or recommendations as reported by the author(s); Conclusions drawn and the implications made by the author(s).
