Pre-requisites: EAS2025, EAS2026, EAS2027, EAS2028


Aims/Description: By this stage students should have acquired the ability to read newspapers and general articles in Korean. This module is designed to enhance ability to conduct original research on the basis of academic source materials.

Teaching Methods: Teaching in all sections of the module will be done in small-groups to facilitate discussion and individually focussed attention and feedback. In Reading Comprehension students will work in groups (A5), on teacher-set tasks (A1, A2, LO1, LO2) to develop their reading comprehension skills; in Writing and Aural-Oral students will work on teacher-set tasks and exercises to practice the skills needed, and reinforce and embed structures, vocabulary and behaviours needed (A3, A4, LO3, LO4). In interpreting, students will work in small groups to interpret various practical topics. This includes both to interpret from English into Chinese and Chinese into English.
Assessment: i) Formative (7 Aural-Oral, 6 composition), 25%, LO2, LO3, LO5 ii) End of semester interpreting exam, 15%, LO1, LO2 iii) Written exam (3 hours), 60%, LO2, LO3, LO5
