15 Credits AUTUMN

Aims/Description: This module is designed to give students an up-to-date knowledge and a skills base related to the structural design of concrete and steel structural members. Significant emphasis in this unit is to impart a fundamental understanding of how structural members work, so that the engineer will develop a feel for behaviour of the structure that is often missing when design is based solely by using codes of practice or by the direct application of prescribed equations.

Staff Contact: Dr Jurgen Becque
Teaching Methods: Lectures, Tutorials, Independent Study
Assessment: Formal Exam
