Aims/Description: The unit enables students to develop as independent researchers on a research project in philosophical, social, political ethical, historical or cultural aspects of medicine. Having successfully completed the unit, a student will be able to: demonstrate researcher skills commensurate with the achievement of a master's degree; demonstrate independent resource discovery, analytical and critical skills; produce a cogently argued piece of writing that demonstrates their competence as a researcher; address issues of research methodology, theory and ethics as these relate to their research topic and processes.
