APS138 Molecular and Cell Biology
Aims/Description: Molecular techniques underpin many branches of biology in the 21st century. Diverse methods can be used to address a variety of questions. The aim of this module is to give students hands on experience with using a number of basic molecular biology protocols such as DNA extraction, cloning, genotyping and DNA sequencing to test a specific hypothesis of the molecular basis to disease resistance. The module will be delivered primarily as an intensive one week long laboratory course with assessment in the form of a lab book and a written report.
